“Legal Notice”

This page is sometimes called the “disclaimer” page and really it is designed to advise the reader of some things that may be obvious and some things that may not. For example, this website makes references to past settlements. I do that to let you know that my lawfirm has helped people receive what I consider to be fair compensation for their injuries. However, past success is in no way a guarantee of future success. No ethical lawyer will make you any promise with regard to how much money they will get for your injury or will promise you that they will get you big money because they have done so for other clients in the past. I will give you my very best effort in order for you to recover all the compensation you are entitled to as permitted by law

It is not uncommon for lawyers to refer a case to another lawyer. Over the years I have had many personal injury cases referred to me from other lawyers. Sometimes I will work with other lawyers on your case. This does not increase the amount charged for attorney fee’s. If I do work with another lawyer or lawfirm on your case, we (the lawyers) will come to a fee-split agreement. If another lawyer works on the case with me they will get part of my fee so there is no increase in the fee to you. I set forth in the written retainer agreement that I have all my clients’ sign (of course I sign it too and give you a copy) that in the event another lawyer works with me on a case there is no increase in the amount charged for attorney fee’s.

Sometimes a lawyer may give another lawyer the entirety of a case. For example if you ask me to do a real estate closing for you I will refer that entire case to another lawyer. Why? Because I have a limited amount of knowledge in real estate matters. When my wife and I purchased our home we hired a lawyer to do our closing. If I won’t do my own closing I certainly would not feel comfortable doing yours.

In matters such as personal injury cases like a Benzene case or Mesothelioma case   I may still bring in another lawyer. Again no increase in the attorney fee. Why bring in another lawyer? Well, practically I may be in trial on a case in New York when a Judge in Texas wants me to attend a conference on a case. I can’t be in two places at once. It is not uncommon for lawyers to have what is called local counsel on a case in another jurisdiction. Sometimes another lawyer may have expertise in an area of law that I don’t have. Sometimes another lawyer may have a long term relationship with a given manufacturer of an asbestos or benzene product such that they will be able to obtain you more compensation or more immediate compensation then I could on my own. In the past I have had asbestos cases referred to me from other lawyers and I have referred asbestos cases to other lawyers.

When I do work with other lawyers on a case we share responsibilities on the case and likewise share the fee. If I give an entire matter to another lawyer for which I do not share any responsibility I will not share in the fee. Going back to a real estate closing if I send you to another lawyer for that I do not share in the attorney fee because I do no work and do not share the responsibility.

I also ask that you review my “Bill of Rights” page  as it has sets forth what you can expect from my lawfirm. Keep in mind that should you decide you wish to retain my lawfirm there will be a written retainer agreement that both of us will sign and a copy of which you will be given. And ,as always , if you have any questions or concerns about any aspect of your case I am here to answer them promptly, respectfully, honestly and to the best of my ability.
